Robotics as a Service for Enterprise Operations
Robotics as a Service brings equipment access and agreed services together over a defined term. The value is in a clear operating agreement, not an assumed promise that every responsibility disappears.

Define the service before the term
Whether your procurement team calls it Robotics as a Service or robot as a service, begin with the operating task, coverage needed and an achievable acceptance process. Agree which equipment and services are provided and which responsibilities remain with your team.
Maintenance, software, human operation, consumables, reporting and support depend on the contract. Site preparation, integration and changes in scope may be separate. RaaS does not by itself guarantee autonomy, uptime or financial savings.
Purchase, rental or RaaS?
The options are not interchangeable. Compare the full scope, internal capability and consequences of change, rather than a hardware price against a service fee.
Purchase
Acquire equipment under agreed supply terms. Integration and continuing operation need their own budget and responsibilities.
Rental
Access a platform for a defined project or duration. Confirm suitability, availability, setup, supervision and return conditions.
RaaS
Combine equipment access with specified services over a term. Maintenance, software and human operation depend on the contract.
Build an operating responsibility matrix
- Equipment access: platform, tooling, sensors, software rights and term.
- Operations: who supervises, authorises routes, intervenes and reports incidents.
- Maintenance: planned servicing, spares, repair handling and access windows.
- Data: ownership, access, retention, integrations and reporting expectations.
- Commercial boundaries: acceptance, changes, end-of-term return or transition, and exclusions.
Start with measurable acceptance criteria
Define the task baseline and trial conditions before setting a service scope. Useful criteria might concern route completion, inspection data quality or a production handover, but thresholds must be agreed for the specific application. Review performance in its actual operating context. White Sky does not publish guaranteed customer savings or standard service levels that have not been agreed.
Project questions
Does RaaS include maintenance and software?
Only where the agreement says so. Equipment, licences, maintenance, reporting, human operation and support should each have an identified owner and scope.
Can RaaS replace our operators?
Do not assume it will. Supervision, exception handling and site responsibilities depend on the application and the selected platform. Those requirements belong in the assessment.
