White Sky
Benedikt Kalwoda
Chief Technology Officer
The technical owner of White Sky's platform: the architecture, infrastructure and engineering discipline that turn autonomy research into dependable, production-grade systems.
Benedikt leads White Sky's technology function end to end, from system architecture and infrastructure to the applied-AI layer that makes autonomous systems governable in the field. His foundation is a rigorous engineering education, electrical engineering and information technology at TU Wien, spanning semiconductor physics, electronic devices, signals and systems, digital systems and low-level programming, paired with hands-on ownership of real production infrastructure. He is strongest exactly where deep-tech ventures are most exposed: at the boundary between physical hardware and reliable, automated software operations.
Technology leadership
Full-stack technical ownership
Sets and executes the technical direction across the platform, from device-level reasoning to the software and infrastructure that run on top of it, so architecture decisions hold from silicon to system.
Device-to-system depth
University grounding in semiconductor physics, electronic devices and signal processing, paired with applied engineering (control systems, industrial automation, EPLAN, Simulink, LTspice). He understands the physical layer that pure software leaders treat as a black box.
Production infrastructure at the core
Designs, operates and hardens multi-service Linux environments end to end: containerized deployments, reverse proxying, monitoring and alerting, intrusion prevention, security hardening and workflow automation across on-premise and cloud infrastructure.
AI-native engineering
Builds and operates multi-provider LLM tooling and agentic workflows as core infrastructure, applying AI to accelerate implementation, debugging, documentation and operations, not as a demo but as a durable capability.
Reliability-first discipline
Operates to industrial standards of quality and uptime, with documented security audits and incident-driven improvement built into how systems are run.
First-principles reasoning
The theoretical depth to reason about hardware and system behavior from transistor to platform level, and to make the architecture calls that determine whether autonomy scales safely.
Leadership & experience
White Sky
Chief Technology Officer. Owns platform architecture, infrastructure and the applied-AI layer end to end; built the venture's technical foundation and public-facing engineering presence and directs how autonomy research becomes production-grade, governable systems.
Systems & security engineering
Architecture, deployment, hardening and 24/7 operation of multi-service Linux environments: cloud storage, DNS, e-signing, automation and monitoring, with documented security audits and incident-driven improvements.
Siemens Mobility Austria GmbH
Quality Management (2023). Process optimization and SAP-based operations in an industrial rail-technology environment, where reliability and traceability are non-negotiable.
Hans Lohr GmbH / IFM Facility Mgmt.
Electrical Engineering (2021 to 2022). Control systems, industrial control cabinet construction, maintenance and fault diagnosis in live facilities.
Education
TU Wien
Electrical Engineering & Information Technology (since 2025).
Higher Federal Technical College of Electrical Engineering, TGM Wien
Electrical Engineering (2019 to 2024), graduated with highest distinction.
Technical contribution
As CTO he materially reduces execution risk across the full technology stack: the academic depth to reason about physical systems from semiconductor level upward, the infrastructure discipline to run software reliably and securely at scale, and the AI fluency to automate and compound it. White Sky's technical direction sits with an owner who can hold the architecture from hardware reality to production operations.
